Welcome to 2015, Welcome to the New You

It’s a new year and a good reason for a new start. If you’re like most people, then you’ve probably got a new years resolution, and one of the most common new years resolutions is to lose weight and be healthier.

If you didn’t set a new years resolution of getting healthier, why not? It’s not too late to change your mind…

We’ll be resuming our regular training sessions on January 12th and I want to make sure you’re all there for our first session of the year! I’m feeling well-rested and seriously motivated to make some progress!

We’ve still got a lot of good weather ahead of us, which means we’ll be training during some hot weather.

Hydrate properly

Make sure you hydrate properly every day, especially when you’re training. Consume water before, during and after your workouts. Even if you don’t feel thirsty, you should still keep your hydration levels up. If you want to get something extra to prevent dehydration, look at purchasing some hydration tablets. These will provide your electrolytes and minerals you lose through sweat. Workout drinks like Powerade and Gatorade will also contain these sort of things, but typically have too much sugar in them.

Slip Slop Slap

Every Australian has grown up hearing this saying, but it’s still just as true as it ever was. If you’re out in the sun during the day, make sure you put on some sunscreen. This warning isn’t limited to just when you’re training with Bailey’s Bodies either.

I can tell you right now, that doing a workout the day after you’ve got badly sunburnt is never much fun!

Train Early or Late

Our training sessions are run during the cooler parts of the day, and with good reason. If you’re going to do some extra training, plan ahead and make sure it’s not during the middle of the day.

Train Undercover or Indoors

If you must train during the warmer part of the day, try to find a shady spot out of the sun to train.

Our Ferntree Gully boot camp location has an undercover area where we’ll do most of our training.

If you’re smart about it, the hot summer weather shouldn’t pose any issues for your training. In fact, quite often people find that the warmer weather helps with nagging injuries and creaky joints, so you may as well make the most of the warm weather.

I can’t wait to see you all at training. Let’s make 2015 the year of change and build that body you always wanted!
